![]() ![]() ![]() I decided to transfer all my ebooks from Calibre, sorted by Collections. Kobo also did some much needed battery optimization, and this is really welcome, since it has been lambasted by users of having terrible battery life. Device: Kobo Libra 2, Kobo Aura H2O, PRS-650, PRS-T1, nook STR, PW3. To remove a dictionary, tap the check mark icon beside the dictionary youd like to remove. To add a dictionary, tap the plus icon beside the dictionary you want to add. My Notebooks will move from the More menu to the bottom navigation when the Kobo Stylus is detected and Kobo fixed a bug where the zoom preview window for PDFs was not displaying correctly. Tap the More icon at the bottom of the screen. The Kobo Sage has gained some note taking and PDF viewing features. You can hide book covers or make them full screen in Settings > Energy saving and privacy. Book Covers will now display on the home screen for users who bought a Kobo at FNAC. There is also a host of other features, such as enhanced language support and dictionaries for Catalan, Simplified Chinese and Pinqin. The Kobo 6 update is now being pushed out to the vast majority of Kobo devices, excluding the Mini. This will certainly resonate well with people who are concerned with privacy and simply want to read their own books, instead of buying them from Kobo. You can basically use the Kobo has an e-reader only. This also will allow users to not have to connect to a WIFI network or any of the sync services. This will allow you to load in your own books on the Kobo, without having to register or sign-in to a Kobo account. I write more about Kobo and e-readers.Kobo has just unveiled a new sideload system for all of their modern e-readers. Have fun with it! Get more out of your Kobo When you disconnect, the reader will extract the e-book and add it to the list. Make sure that you remember your PIN before you restart the iPhone. Unfortunately, I did not find an option to remove to safely remove the Kobo from the iPhone, and so I advise playing it safe and first power down the iPhone. The next steps I found a bit cumbersome, but with the steps written out it is much easier. On the iPhone, the Kobo will show up as a drive under files. After confirming (pushing the confirm button) the two devices are connected. It is the same message you see when you hook it up to a computer. Once attached you will see a message on the Kobo which you need to confirm. I show it quickly in this video with my iPhone 8 and a Kobo Clara: Connect Kobo to iPhone through camera adapter You plug it into the adapter and then into iPhone and Kobo. ![]() Once you have the adapter, you can use the regular USB cable for the Kobo. I bought mine for 20 euro at a web store. The adapter is referred to as Lightning to USB 3.0 Camera Adapter and you can buy it from Apple or another company. An extra benefit is that you can charge Kobo and iPhone together. So to be on the safe side, plug in the charger as well. So again, use the camera adapter with the charger entry, the iPhone notices the difference in hardware and will complain about not enough power to operate the attached device.įor my setup, it did not matter if I plugged in the charger or not, but reported it did for his setup. Like you see here: The camera adapter in close up But the really important thing is that the adapter needs to have an entry (called Lightning) for charging. How can you then transfer a downloaded e-book to the Kobo? First I bought an adapter. The hardware prerequisites: the camera adapter and the standard cable I make these stories and videos because I like to figure things out and share my experience.
